Sally Green, Textural Artist

Sally Green, a lifelong artist based in Australia, channels the vibrant landscapes of her surroundings into emotionally expressive abstract paintings.

What you see in her artworks is very much in the eye of the beholder. What do you see or feel? This is very personal as each person will see different things and sometimes it can make you have different feelings, this for her,is what art is about, speaking to your subconscious and making your limbic brain make connections from the abstract forms. Sally creates for herself but also for you the viewer to evoke emotions and a sense of wonder.

Using high-quality acrylics, inks,  handmade natural Australian pigments and found objects from the local Bunjalung area around Byron Bay like local sand and rocks, Sally blends materials in different layers and textures  to create depth of field in her art.
Her first artistic career was in the Airbrush Industry,  she then became an accomplished glassblower before returning to her first love, painting again. All these careers have given Sally such valuable experience in colour and design which she now brings to her abstract art.

"It's about letting go so that my art becomes a playground of colours, shapes and emotions."
For her creating art is a process of inner transformation, and somehow she emerges from painting into a higher state of being. So her art is very personal and it has been necessary for her to create since she was able to hold a paintbrush.

Her pieces evolve naturally straight from source sometimes with minimal planning, and she uses a variety of mediums like acrylics, inks, handmade pigments from the surrounding land and even found objects.

Sally’s art invites viewers to connect with nature’s beauty, and to embark on a journey of interpretation that ignites the imagination , and evokes introspection. Her pieces mirror the textures found in nature and reflect the interplay between the tangible and intangible.

Her techniques, honed over years, include fluid art, airbrushing, and traditional brushwork, allowing her to create flowing, organic and textural compositions.

CREATIVE PROCESS

For Sally art is cathartic. a form of transmutation of emotions into form.  Time is completely lost as she enters a kind of meditative state as she releases parts of her psyche in this alchemical process.

For her creating art is a process of inner transformation, and somehow she emerges from painting into a higher state of being. So her art is very personal and it has been necessary for her to create since she was able to hold a paintbrush.

Her pieces evolve naturally straight from source with minimal planning, just going with the flow of the colours and what she feels in her heart.
