About
Sally Green, a lifelong artist based in Australia, channels the vibrant landscapes of her surroundings into emotionally expressive abstract paintings.
Material to Meaning
Sally Green has been painting since she was a child and has had several different artistic careers, the first being an airbrush artist, then 20 years blowing glass. Now she is a full-time abstract Artist creating heavily textured acrylic works on canvas and wood. Her paintings are emotionally expressive pieces, reflecting the natural landscape and tones of Australia.
Her unique style reflects the natural world that she feels a deep affinity with, even using parts of it in her paintings, like local sand, rocks and handmade pigments from Bunjalung country where she resides near Byron Bay.

"It's about letting go so my art becomes a playground of colours, shapes and emotions."

Creative Process
For Sally art is cathartic. A form of transmutation of emotions into form. Time is completely lost as she enters a kind of meditative state as she releases parts of her psyche in this alchemical process.
For her creating art is a process of inner transformation, and somehow she emerges from painting into a higher state of being. So Sally's art is very personal and it has been necessary for her to create since she was able to hold a paintbrush.
Her pieces evolve naturally straight from source with minimal planning, just going with the flow of the colours and what she feels in her heart.
