Abstract Landscapes

Hurricane Alfred

I created this piece during Hurricane Alfred whilst being flooded in for a week with no power. Painting this helped me immensly by transmuting my feelings onto the canvas. It is wet wild and swampy with a few real wooden bits imbedded into it to create an eyecatching detail.

The fern impressions were airbrushed over real fern fronds from my garden giving them a soft ethereal look that contrasts the rest of the imagery.

The wooden pieces are actually seaweed roots that i collected from my home town in South Australia called Beachport. I added these in to create a focal point in the artwork and to create a more 3 dimensional piece and utimalety a very unique talking point.

Urban Nature

Where country meets city, this piece is an expression of rivers and trees

and the textural overlays remind me of the apartment blocks slowly

taking over the natural world.

Autumnal Tones  Sold

Beautiful tones of Autumn browns and ochres with hues of purple.

Golden and silvered highlights reflect under different lighting.

Truly unique textures from mulberry paper, to local Byron Bay sand creating depth and interest. I used local ochre found in my creek to handmake my pigments. My aim is to connect the viewer to the land, the Australian country and the earth we walk upon.

Scribblygum

This piece is uniquely Australian. I have used mostly acrylics but also some ground up brown rocks I found at the beach near Byron Bay. I have also used ochre powder to give a unique texture effect.

I then painted scribblygum scribbles in a few detailed areas because it reminds me of the bark of a eucalyptus tree.
